Steam and Heat THIS!
Mar. 12th, 2009 10:42 amI don't get Steam and Heat. I can now "steam and heat" my vegetables, my Ravioli...
What exactly is the appeal? Fewer dishes?
What do you wind up with? A painfully hot bag of moving, liquidy stuff, that you now have to maneuver out of the microwave...where? On your counter?
No? You put it on a plate...the "fewer dishes" starts to crumble...
And I know the bags are supposed to be easy to open, but even with my chef's fingers, that steam is freaking HOT. So now I have to get out my kitchen shears..something else that needs to be rinsed off...
And how the hell am I supposed to season it? In the bag? Now I've got a hot steaming bag that is precariously propped open on the counter...just begging to tip over and spill those nuclear hot peas all over the place.
So I put in the olive oil or butter, salt/spices...and now what? Shake it up? That hot bag? Get out a spoon (another thing to wash) and stir it up...and I still have to use that to get them out of the bag and onto the plate, 'cause there seems to be extra liquid in there.
So, I wind up cooking it in the bag and then dumping it into a bowl to season/drain. When I could have dumped the frozen product into the bowl, nuked it and NOT burned myself on the nuclear hot bag.
Or, better yet, quickly warmed it in a pot, that comes with a handy handle that allows me to shake the seasonings....
Don't even get me started with what's probably coating the bag to keep it stable and why you might not want that in contact with your food.
Just because it's new, doesn't mean it's better. You'd think that Microsoft would have taught everyone that by now.
Stupid Monkeys...
